Braumiller Consulting Group’s Senior Trade Advisor Mike Smiszek for a webinar presentation on:
Tariff Mitigation Strategies from Soup to Nuts (BCG)
Tuesday August 5th
10:30 am CST
In today’s weird and wacky tariff environment, companies are searching for ways to save whatever money they can on tariffs. In this webinar we will look at the various strategies that importers may consider using to mitigate their tariff liabilities. Some of these strategies are directly related to tariff reductions (like FTAs), while others are more broadly related to business and manufacturing practices. But each of them, when applicable to a company’s business model and when practiced in good faith, can help them save money.

Presented by Mike Smiszek, Senior Trade Advisor, Braumiller Consulting Group
Mike Smiszek’s diverse trade compliance experience spans nearly forty years. He began his career with a six-year stint with major U.S. customs brokerage firm, where he gained experience in practically every aspect of the customs law. He then moved on to oversee import, export, sanctions, and anticorruption compliance at several global manufacturers in the defense, telecom, energy, and semiconductor industries. Mike retired from the corporate side of compliance in 2020, and joined Braumiller Consulting Group as a trade advisor. Immediately prior to joining Braumiller, he served for nearly eight years as Director of Global Trade Compliance for MKS Instruments.
Mike earned a BS in Management from Lesley College, and has been a Licensed Customs Broker for more than thirty years. He has written a number of articles on trade compliance topics—including recent articles in the Global Trade and Customs Journal on the reasonable care standard twenty-five years after the Customs Modernization Act (Mod Act), and on the Harmonized System’s General Rule of Interpretation 4. And to prove that he is a certified compliance geek, Mike collects nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century tariff-related memorabilia.
